school, surgery, and sorry news coverage

wednesday has rolled around yet again, and now seems like as good a time as any to get back into this whole blog thing. plus, luanne has already provided two topics for discussion.

(1) first day of class. items of note include accidentally leaving the only large, fully-functioning umbrella from our house in the classroom as well as reading an exhilarating article on the history of the professional counseling profession. i also received an email with a rather heinous typo from someone related to my graduate education. the editor in me will not go down without a fight.

(2) missy's surgery. during my first call to the vet, i spoke to the front desk guy, who informed me that missy was doing fine but was "drunk" on medication and could not focus her eyes on anything in particular. interesting. during my second call, the vet herself told me that missy did great and that all of the offending bladder stones have been removed. missy will be released from kitty jail tomorrow morning and can come home at that time. will she have one of those funnel collar things on? i am scared. mama oogle sent flowers, though, so maybe little missy will feel better when she sees them.

as for my own topic, i found this rather poor coverage of the 3day event in which luanne and i walked and walked and walked.
